A Playground for Everyone

Help us plan improvements to the Armbrust Hill Playground and surrounding areas.

We want your thoughts on how to turn this underutilized intown gem into a playground for everyone – from pre-K to elders.

Fitness and Therapy

We’d like to develop an Elder Park specifically designed to help older people, as well as physical therapy patients, develop their strength, balance and confidence in moving.

Accessible Trails

Our goal is to improve the existing Playground Trail to be wide enough to walk side-by-side and level enough to be accessible by someone pushing a stroller or possibly a wheelchair.

The Town Parks Commission, Islands Community Medical Services, and Vinalhaven Land Trust – together the Armbrust Hill Collaborative – have engaged Terry DeWan and Eamonn Hutton of VIEWSHED, Landscape Architects and Planners, to design concepts for this public space. We’d like your input as we begin this process.

In November 2022, we held a public meeting to discuss possible uses. Terry presented a slide show looking at existing conditions and photos of parks from other locations to generate ideas.
