Accessible Trails
What will they look like?
Our goal is to improve the Playground Trail from the playground to the Indian Creek viewpoint to be wide enough to walk side-by-side and level enough to be accessible by someone pushing a stroller or possibly a wheelchair. We envision a stone dust surface allowing the trail to blend with its natural surroundings as much as possible.

Seating Options
What kind of seating should be on the trails and at the playground? Some possibilities are shown below. Email us with your thoughts.
Existing Benches
The benches currently in the park are rugged and serviceable, but have straight backs which do not conform to the curves of the sitter.
Supportive Benches
Benches with curved backs are more supportive in the waist area and would be more comfortable for elder visitors.
Private Bench Circle
Benches set in a circle or semicircle and surrounded by shrubs would provide a private outdoor “room” where a group could enjoy a more tranquil rest.
Split Logs
Easy and inexpensive to assemble from local materials, but deteriorate quickly and provide little support. However, they do blend in with the natural environment.
Granite Blocks
We have plenty of these! They blend in beautifully and remind us of our quarrying heritage. Very permanent, but hard and cold.
Table and Benches
Would you like to see a table – a place for a snack, a picnic, a game of chess, or the like? Or are benches alone adequate?
